The stuffguy3 StoryIn a nutshell, I was the original winner of a set of 45rpm records (Lord Buckley's Hipsters, Flipsters... Knock Me Your Lobes) on eBay for $52.78 (originally eBay Item #60412217, later eBay Item #77251091). I sent "stuffguy3" [the seller, one Tullio DiFedele of Howell, NJ] a money order and included $3.20 for priority mail (which he did not specify in his contact e-mail). However, stuffguy took offense because I also foolishly said that I usually don't send money orders to people with no user feedback. [Check out the FAQ: How To Avoid Being Ripped-off Buying Vinyl On The Net.] Anyway, DiFedele replied with nasty and threatening e-mails and demanded $8 for shipping or else he wouldn't send the records. I considered this a shakedown and a complete lack of good faith on his part and asked him to return my money order. It took six weeks and some additional prodding, but he finally did. In retrospect, what really seems to have happened was this: After the first auction ended, DiFedele discovered Ron Smith's Goldmine Comedy Record Price Guide. This book mentions that the Lord Buckley 45's fetch up to $100.00. Realizing his mistake in letting them go so cheaply, he tried to goad me into asking for a refund and, in fact, succeeded. When I saw that he put the records back up for auction with a reserve that wasn't met until the $100 mark, it became apparent what kind of game he was playing and I left appropriate negative feedback. Originally, I had written DiFedele off as a crank. In fact, if he had just put the records back up without the high reserve, I would have let the whole thing go and not left any feedback at all. But as far as I'm concerned, stuffguy3 is a greedhead who got caught and won't admit it. Of course, his idea of fairplay was to leave negative feedback for me. Read the rest of my feedback and ask anyone on the list if I'm the "very nasty person" DiFedele claims I am. As for his assertion that I "refused to pay correct shipping cost," a friend of mine e-mailed him to inquire about shipping for the Lord Buckley 45's and stuffguy quoted him "a flat rate of 5.00 if you are in the USA" -- not the $8.00 he tried to shake me down for! And (get this!), elvissmith, the ultimate winner of the second round, told me that "he [stuffguy] asked for a $4.00 shipping fee," only 80 cents more than I originally sent! What is this guy stuffed with, anyway? Well that's the story. Caveat emptor, bidders, and good luck! Sincerely, PS. Feel free to inquire anytime for further details. That's what feedback with corresponding e-mail addresses is for. Oh, yeah... Here's a sample of stuffguy3's unedited prose: "Well I predict you are not going to get your 45 unless you sent the correct shipping and handling charge. It is a flat charge to be determined by the seller. I'm the seller. You never asked. "You set the tone with your arrogant first e-mail. Why don't you read it. "As far as my wit and charm, I can be very nice to nice people. You are not nice. I DONT LIKE YOU. You are a pompous person who feels the world revolves around you. I have no intention of being nice to YOU. "Why don't you send another one of your arrogant E-MAILS and see were it gets you," [unsigned] (Nice guy, huh?)
